So How Do You Feel About Clubhouse?

Clubhouse. The not-so-new-anymore social media platform that seems to be grabbing attention from just about everyone.

I've been on it for a few months now and have gotten the hang of it, at least for me.

Here's my strategy:

  • I'm most interested in the smaller rooms where it is possible that I can be given an opportunity to speak and interact.

  • I'll wander into one of the really big rooms (1,000+ people) and listen for awhile if it is a topic or speaker in which I have an interest.

  • I'll always check out a room that is run by a business colleague.

  • I'm keen on rooms where there are people that I know and respect.

Oh yeah, I've also started to run some rooms, both on my own and also with a few business buddies. It's been a mixed bag, but it has never been a waste of time.

Even when the attendance is low, there is always something positive that has come out of the experience, including:

A new contact

A possible business opportunity New ideas to ponder

Renewed business relationships

As for folks that call it a total "time suck," well, that's entirely in your control. You don't HAVE to be on there for hours at a time, nor do you have to stay on the calls for very long. (There's a "leave quietly" option.)

Oh yeah, one last thing. It's so very awesome to have access to people without having to Zoom!!!! I've got a bad case of Zoom fatigue and Clubhouse is a great antidote!
