Do-Overs Are Allowed.

Do-overs are allowed.
This early morning I received text from a business friend.
They sounded distressed.
Their text started with this. “I screwed up already, messed up my resolutions, and it’s only 1/4.”
My immediate reply was this:
“Hey. Falling behind when you’ve just started is nothing to worry about. Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
Have you fallen behind?!
* Rethink those resolutions.
* Are they too aggressive?
* Do they mean enough to you; why did you make this resolution in the first place?
* Are you trying to do too much too soon?
Do-overs are okay. It doesn’t mean anything negative. Just the opposite, it means you have the persistence, grit, and tenacity to start again.
Take a breath. Be gentle with yourself. Just because we turned a page on the calendar doesn’t mean all is perfect.
But that also doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be optimistic, about how the year will progress, but beating yourself up on 1/4/21 seems a tad premature.
Personally, I’m baby stepping into 2021, slow and steady. And if I fall, I’ll get up, clean myself off, and start again.
Remember that the entire year lies ahead and there's enough time to do exactly what you want to do.
